Basket reading

She’s a basket case, Donny thought, as he watched Christine sitting on the floor swaying back and forth with her eyes closed and humming some sort of song. He went back to reading his book and tried to block out the woman’s song.

He started feeling dizzy and shakes his head to get rid of the sensation. It didn’t work. Tilting his head back so it rests on the back of the chair and closes his eyes. Seconds later he opens his eyes to see Christine standing over him shaking her head.

“I’m a basket case am I?” she says.

Donny opens his mouth but no words come out.

“I guess they didn’t tell you I am telepathic did they?” Christine says. “No matter, they probably also didn’t tell you that you are to be my food.”

She grabs his head in her hands and presses her lips to his. Donny’s resistance is futile as his body shrivels up and finally disintegrates.
