5 Minute Writing Challenge Day 30
Day 30
Hat responsibility
I took my hat off to him. It’s not everyday – at least not in the last thousand years – that a politician took responsibility for what went wrong. After all ins’t everything that happens the fault of something they couldn’t control? That’s what they always like to claim.
An underling in the department accidentally filed the wrong paper work and three hundred thousand dollars of tax payers’ money somehow ended up in an offshore bank account the politician had.
But not this one, he took the blame, saying that the buck stops with him. He immediately paid the money back – with interest (another shocker there). And resigned his seat. Then ran in the byelection to regain the trust of the people.
Which he did obviously, winning his seat back. Although I wonder did he only take the fall because he was caught?
