Breath wife

Darius held his wife cradled in his arms. Clara’s own arms fell limp as she drew her last breath. The rage built up inside Darius, the invading soldiers didn’t care about the innocent civilians they killed. The politicians never cared about the ruined lives that war causes.

He managed to bring his wife into the barn after the soldier had shot at them hitting her in the stomach. With no weapons that can fight back against what has happened his only choice right now is to hide here and hope the soldiers didn’t see him enter the barn ignore it. And then he’ll live to fight another day.
