Don’t be Boring
Hello and welcome back.
As authors we are entertainers. And therefore we can not be boring with our writing. One of the best ways to have exciting stories is with how to do Showing versus Telling. One of the best books for this, at least that I’ve used is by Marcy Kennedy in her Busy Writer’s series Showing and Telling. You can pick up a copy below:
The basic gist of what she teaches is can what you are writing be experienced in a Star Trek Holodeck. For fans of the show you will know what I mean. If not, you’ll have to buy the book.
Another great book that she wrote is her book on dialogue. I’ve used this book and it is great.
And as I’ve talked about before in other posts on creating suspense, have some cliff hangers in chapters that either get resolved in the next chapter or at a later chapter. This will help keep your reader on the edge of their seat and more likely to want to keep turning the page.
Hopefully those two resources I gave you will help your writing. Have a great day.
