Hello and welcome back.

Today is another in a series of character interviews with characters who appear in my upcoming novel No Rest For The Vengeful. This one is with Robby Trenholme. Shall we say, he’s a very shady character.

IW: Well, Robby, tell us why you do what you do?

Robby: I’m a used car salesman. I do that to pay my mortgage and put food in my fridge and on my table. the same reason anybody works their jobs.

IW: You know that’s not what I mean.

Robby: I’m not a mind reader, dude, so I have no idea what you mean.

IW: You help the Russian Mafia group, the Czarists, get girls into the sex trade.

Robby: Oh that.

IW: Yes, that.

Robby: I kind of got into a bit of a bind.

IW: How do you “kind of” get into a bind?

Robby: You ever play the lottery?

IW: Sometimes. What’s that got to do with the question?

Robby: I took part in some high stakes gambling, poker and betting on some games. The same reason people play the lottery. Dreams of the big payday. Retire young with the millions, sit down by the beach and stick my feet in the sand. That kind of thing.

IW: Let me guess, you lost.

Robby: Big time. I got almost a hundred thousand in the hole. And, these aren’t the kind of people you want to be in debt to. Visa, Master Card, American Express, even your mortgage company. Default on those loans, nothing overly bad happens to you. If the mortgage company takes your house away, you can always sleep in your car. If your car gets seized, you can take the bus to work. The credit card companies don’t break your legs, and I prefer my bones to be unbroken, wouldn’t you?

IW: I wouldn’t have gotten involved with Czarists in the first place.

Robby: They gave me a way to pay off the debt that didn’t involve me getting my legs broken.

IW: What about the girls you duped? Do you have any remorse for what you sent them to?

Robby: What can I say? When the chips are down, everyone looks out for number one. It was either that or get put in a wheel chair. They did promise that the girls would not be killed.
