Running For His Life Chapter 2
The men sent after Mickey were wrong, he didn’t stay on foot. He stole a bicycle and rode it to the bus station, stashed it behind a dumpster, took a key out of his pocket went to a set of lockers and opened one, took out a large backpack slung it on his shoulders, saw that the ticket booth would not be open for another 2 hours, so he went outside and found a car in a secluded area of the parking lot, laid his backpack on the ground, pulled out a slim-jim and broke in.
Mickey dropped his backpack on the passenger seat, pried open the box under the steering column and expertly hot wired the car. Lucky for him it was an older model car that allowed him to do so. He drove for half an hour until he pulled into the parking lot of a 24-hour diner.
Not wanting to go inside and possibly be recognized on the outside chance anyone sent after him was in there, he pulled out some freeze-dried food, started munching as he flipped through his notebook of where he would like to go. He chose Lawrenceville on the other side of the country.
After getting his fill of food, he checked and saw he still had 3/4 of a tank of gas, so he could stay on the road for a little while before refilling bought him and the car, either that or it would be better to find another bus station stash the car four blocks from it and take the bus to where he had to go. He perused through his travel maps and found there was a bus station 2 hours away. Perfect he thought, that’s what I’ll do. He knew that it would just be a matter of time before the police would run the plates and find it was a stolen vehicle. So, off he went to is destination.
