I am 90 minutes away from my Easter 2017 24 hour writing marathon. I am excited because I am going to try and beat the last one where I wrote 12389 words. So I will shoot for another 20% increase to get to 15 thousands words.

Each hour I will update how many words have been written.

T minus 61 minutes to the start of the marathon.

T minus 50 minutes to the start of the marathon

T Minus 43 minutes to the start of the marathon

T Minus 30 minutes to the start of the marathon

T Minus 21 minutes to the start of the marathon

T Minus 15 minutes to the start of the marathon

T Minus 10 minutes to the start of the marathon

T minus 5 minutes to the start of the marathon. This will be the last one before 1am when I update how many words I wrote for that hour

0000 to 0100 – 648 words. 14352 words from my goal

0100 – 0110 – break

0110 – 0210 – 1012 words written. 1660 words total written. 13340 from my goal

0210 – 0300 – made the mistake of taking too long of a break for no reason than I fell asleep while relaxing.

0300 – 0400 – the goal for this hour is to get 1200 words written. In other words I want to increase my word count over the previous hour by 20 percent, the same as increasing my word count for this marathon over the previous marathon. Total words this hour are 1311. Beat my goal for this hour by 111 words. And the total for this marathon so far is 2971. I am now 12029 words away from my goal for this marathon.

0405 – 0415 – break

0415 – 0515 the goal for this hour is to get 1560 words written. Keep on making the effort to increase my word count by 20 percent early on in the marathon because later on when I have to take longer breaks and I’m more tired my word count will likely go down. On this one my word count did go down I got 966 words written so I didn’t meet my goal of 1560 words for the hour. Total for this marathon so far is 3937 bringing me to 11063 words away from my goal.

I’m going to take a little bit longer break this time as I feel I’m already fading and then come back stronger the next time you read on this post. Assuming you’re following me.

0705 – 0805 – I’m still going to shoot for 1560 words for this hour. Total words for this hour were 1165. total words for the marathon are 5102. So while again I didn’t meet the goal of 1560 words but I am 9898 words away from my goal for this marathon.

0855 – 0955 I will again shoot for 1560 words for this hour. Got to 1520 words for this hour so again I didn’t quite make my goal, missed it by a mere forty words. So now the total words written for this marathon are 6620 Bringing me to 8378 words away from making my goal for this marathon.

0957 – 1010 – break

1010 – 1110 I will again shoot for 1560 words written for this hour. This hour I got to 1172 words. Total for this marathon is now 7792 words written bringing me to 7208 from my goal.

Fading again I’ll have to take another extended break. I will explain why at the end of the session.

1335 – 1435 Again I will shoot for 1560 words written for this hour. But ended up with 1222 words written. Missed the hourly goal again but I am now at 9014 words written for this marathon and 5986 from my goal.

1530 – 1630. Again I will shoot for 1560 words for this hour. Unfortunately I only got to 1465 words written so missed the hourly goal again. But now for this marathon I am at 10479 words written bringing me to 4521 words away from my goal.

1700 – 1800. Again I will shoot for 1560 words for the hour. But for this hour I got 994 words written again not making the goal. But I did finish the short story I was working on getting that short story to 31 pages and 12842 words. Total words written for this marathon so far are 11473 bringing me to within 3527 words away from accomplishing my goal.

I had to spend the next hour well actually 57 minutes clearing off a table, washing dishes as I am having friends over to go over another business I am into. So I will have about forty minutes give or take to start the next story.

1900 – 2000. got to 799 words on the new short story I am working on. Should have put more effort into it bu I was expecting my friends to be coming by around 730pm and they message me that they were on their way at 8. So now the total words in this marathon are 12272 bringing me to within 2728 words of my goal for this marathon.

2032 – 2132 – heading down to the home stretch to get 2728 more words. I’ve got three and a half hours to do it. So I will again shoot for 1560 words written this hour. Unfortunately again I didn’t make the hourly goal but I did get 1113 words written for a new total for this marathon of 13385 words written bringing me to within 1615 words.

2145 – 2245 – Should I go for 1560 words for this hour or go for 1615 words written for this hour thereby reaching my marathon goal of 15000 words early? Got a few minutes to decide.I decided to go all out and finish my goal for the hour or at least put my best effort into it. But I got to 914 words unfortunately for a total for this marathon with a little over one hour to go of 14299 bringing me to within 701 words of my goal which I will achieve.

2252 – 2352. While I only have to get 701 words written I am still going to make an effort to get to 1560 words written for the hour.Unfortunately I got to 911 words written – while more than I needed not the 1560 words I was hoping to get.

So while this marathon is now completed at 15210 words. I could have and possibly should have done better. Remember earlier when I said I would explain at the end why I had to take a couple naps when I was fading? I had ended up working the Friday night into Saturday morning, it was originally only supposed to be 1800 to 0200 but I had to cover a shift for dispatch at work from 2300 to 0700 on Saturday morning. So I went to be immediately upon coming home where as what I should have done was waited until around 2 or 3 in the afternoon to go to sleep that would have given me much more energy throughout the day to be able to do my writing.

For the May writing marathon I will now shoot for 18000 words.
