Danil Burlomov Character Interview
Welcome back to my blog. Today’s post is a character interview with Danil Burlomov. This is one way writers get to know their characters and a way to make them sound different from each other. Sit back and enjoy the interview.
IW – Well Danil, tell me why you do what you do.
Danil – There’s a market for what I do. The drugs, guns, women, everything. And I make a ton of money.
IW – So because there’s a market for it, in your mind that justifies what you do?
Danil – Of course.
IW – Selling women like cattle is justified because there’s a market for it?
Danil – what can I say? If people are willing to buy and pay good money for it, someone’s going to profit from it, it might as well be me that makes the money.
IW – and what about Melissa?
Danil – she’s mine, I can do what I want with her.
IW – She’s yours, like you own a dog?
Danil – I fished her out of the water and saved her. I could have just as easily thrown her back in the water to die.
IW – You think you’re some type of hero?
Danil – I provide a service, my laundered money allows me to operate several businesses that employs people. I gave Melissa a new lease on life. She owed me for saving her.
IW – You couldn’t save her just because it’s the right thing to do?
Danil – Who gets to decide what the right thing to do is? All this self righteous crap you hear from the left wing, socialist, communist media, university professors, teachers and Hollywood movie industry. Look at what they’re going through now. How many of them have treated women poorly. Used their positions of power to get a woman into bed for fear of losing her career. You forget, I grew up under communism in Russia. Pretty near every major famine that has happened in the last hundred years or so has happened in a communist country.
All the women who I employ are choosing to be in the business.
IW – Really? Someone addicted to drugs is really choosing to be in the sex trade?
Danil – All my girls are clean. Drug and disease free. They get tested regularly.
IW – so that makes it fine?
Danil – I take care of my people.
IW – But you tried to have Melissa killed.
Danil – I didn’t like having to do that. Sometimes it’s necessary to fire an employee. I just make sure they don’t ever get another job.
IW – And now here you sit in prison. Was it all worth it?
Danil – It’s a temporary setback
IW – You have a three hundred year prison sentence. Not quite temporary.
Danil – It will be.
IW – You have an escape planned?
Danil – I could tell you but then I’d have to kill you. Or get someone else to do it.
IW – If you hadn’t been a criminal you could have been a successful businessman doing anything.
Danil – it would take too long, and there wouldn’t be near as much money involved.
IW – And if you have an escape planned, what will you do?
Danil – Go back to Russia, I can run my empire from there, have someone take care of things back here. Figure out a way to find Melissa and take her out.
IW – my understanding is that your empire was decimated when the cops took everything down.
Danil – A temporary setback. There’s always going to be a market for what we do.
