Day To Day Life In Book Writing
Hello and welcome back to my blog.
Today’s topic is day to day life in writing a book. At least for me and the challenges I have.
The biggest challenge I have is one that many writers have and that is being able to commit the time to writing the book with everything else that commands our attention. Most of us have jobs and families that demand and deserve out attention.
For me I don’t have a wife and children but for almost four years I had to take care of a sick father. In August of 2012 he was diagnosed with cancer and he fought a good battle with it until he finally died in March of 2016.
So how I found the time between working two jobs and looking after a dying relative when I’m the only family member locally to do so is I used breaks at one of the job to do work on it. The union contract allowed for 2 x 15 minute breaks and 1 30 minute meal break. So I used that time to work on a book.
With the other job when I was working there were times when I would be working night shifts and no one else was around so I was able to work a lot on a book hand writing it out with pen and paper.
Also everywhere I went I brought a notebook with me and found a few minutes here and there to be able to work on a book.
As far as writing when I had to look after my father, I would work on it when he was asleep but not when he was awake.
As Art Williams said All You Can Do Is All You Can Do And All You Can Do Is Enough.
