Interview With Jessica King
Hello and welcome back.
Today I am doing another character interview, this time with Detective Jessica King. She has a small role in both No Remorse No Regret and No Rest For The Vengeful. She has a prominent role in The Office Pool which is the parallel story to No Remorse No Regret, and she will have a role in Message In A Bottle.
IW: Well Detective King, you’ve had a pretty interesting time of it so far.
Jessica: That’s putting it mildly.
IW: What are the things you are able to talk about?
Jessica: I got rail-roaded, set up by having a kilo of cocaine planted in my condo. People in my unit set me up for the fall.
IW: Bad times then.
Jessica: I was a cop that got sent to prison. Stuck in general population, when cops are supposed to be in protective custody. Worst time of my life.
IW: I suspect it is difficult to share and tell us about what you went through inside.
Jessica: I became the prisoner’s punching bag, to say it was difficult, well, until you get gang beaten by upwards of six people all at once, there’s no way to tell of the terror you would feel. No common frame of reference. I am lucky I got out of there alive.
IW: And are you able to share how you were exonerated?
Jessica: The investigation is still on going. I’m not a party to it. I’m using up some sick time I had built up over ten years of not calling in sick once. Taking some time for myself. I feel I’ve earned it.
IW: You certainly have earned it, Detective. What will your plans be going forward?
Jessica: Mitchell Burnlee has given me the option of transferring from the Organized Crime Unit over to Homicide. I’ll probably take it. They’ve given me all the time I need to recuperate. (Looks at her watch). Anyway, I’m catching a movie in thirty minutes, haven’t seen one in over ten years, been very dedicated to the job, so I’ll talk to you later.
