Keeping Up The Suspense
Hello and welcome back.
Today I would like to talk about keeping up the suspense in your writing.
One way to do it is have a cliffhanger at the end of a chapter and then go to another part of the story for the next chapter or immediately resolve the cliffhanger in the next chapter. Whichever you feel is best for the story. The key is to vary it up, sometimes immediately resolve the cliffhanger in the next chapter and sometimes go to the other part of the story before going back to resolve the cliffhanger.
The ticking down of the clock is another good way to add suspense. A good example is a lawyer with the Innocence Project has one week to prove a convicted murderer is innocent before he is executed.
Here are a couple of other articles for you to check out. Here and here.
I hope these help you. Have a great day.
