We All Get Criticized
Hello and welcome back to my blog.
Today I would like to share an article about criticism of your writing. It first appeared on The Daily Star here.
Even the most successful authors get negative reviews from time to time. You simply can’t please everyone. The best advice is to not inflate to big over positive reviews and not deflate over negative reviews.
Sometimes criticism is what we need to hear. Like when your editor or beta reader notices some plot holes or developmental errors in your story, most often they are only trying to help you become a better writer and make your story the best it can possibly be.
Your friends will tell you what you want to hear, as in “Hey I really liked your story.” But, is a friend or family member being objective in what they are telling you? For my first novel, No Remorse No Regret, a friend of mine said he really liked it and he felt it was ready for publication. However, he had only read the first draft. How many books do you really think are ready for publication after only the first draft? Most likely none.
Anyway, I hope this and the article I shared helps you in some way.
