3 Tips To Get Unstuck
Hello an welcome back. Today I would like to share three tips on getting unstuck with writing. We all hit a wall or get stuck in the mud every now and then. So how to get unstuck?
Read the following tips.
- Keep Writing. The idea with this is to always have some sort of forward momentum in your writing. If you ever watch Shark Week on The Discovery Channel you will likely hear them saying that sharks always have to keep moving in order for them to breathe. If they don’t they’ll die.
It’s the same thing with your writing. Okay, maybe you won’t literally die if you stop writing. But the story might. Or at the very least you will have a difficult time getting the story back in motion.
2. Plan For 5 Minutes. This is some advice I heard and tried before hearing it but especially after hearing it. For the pantsers who are reading this keep in mind that I’m not saying you have to have the entire story or scene or whatever planned out before you start writing. You only need to write down a few thoughts as to where you want the story to go in your next writing session
3. Take A Breather. When all is said and done and if the other two ideas don’t help, it might simply be you need to take a breather. This could mean take a walk or do something to clear your head of all the distractions of the day in order to be able to get focused. I would add a caveat to this, try the other two first before this. And also take a notepad with you in case inspiration or an idea strikes so you can write it down and not lose it.
Anyway, I hope that all helps, have a great day.
