1. Know how you want to end the story before you begin
2. Never write a perfect character
3. People like underdogs
4. Write what you find interesting
5. Find protagonist’s weaknesses and rub their nose in it
6. Should be no happy accidents
7. Simplify
8. Disguise cliches as non cliches
9. Ask what you would do in the character’s situation
10. Know why your story is important to you
