Interview With Nikolai Cherenkov
Hello and welcome back.
Today is another character interview, this time with Nikolai Cherenkov, a member of Danil Burlomov’s crew. He appears in the upcoming novel No Rest For The Vengeful.
IW: So tell me how you got involved with Danil Burlomov.
Nikolai: What’s there to say really? The pay is good.
IW: Money, nothing more to it than that?
Nikolai: Not really, no. The truth about the world is that crime does pay.
IW: Until you go to prison and/or get killed.
Nikolai: There is that minor little inconvenience. The trick is to not get caught. Don’t leave witnesses, either pay them off or as the saying goes, “make them an offer they can’t refuse.”
IW: Do you feel anything for the people who suffer because of your actions?
Nikolai: What can I say? Is it my fault there’s a market for drugs, girls and guns? If someone’s fool enough to shoot up heroin or snort cocaine, it’s their choice. If there wasn’t a demand, I would be in a different business.
IW: And what of the women?
Nikolai: Again, there’s a market for them. If a man can’t get a woman without paying her, who’s problem is that?
IW: And what about the girls you force into the trade?
Nikolai: We provide jobs. They have a safe place to conduct business. We have security to keep an eye on them. That way they’re not out on the street plying their trade.
IW: Wouldn’t it be better to help them get out of the trade altogether?
Nikolai: They provide the service, we provide the location. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship.
IW: I would doubt that. I suspect that most, if not all, would prefer not to be used as cattle.
Nikolai: It’s like I said, if there wasn’t a market for it, we wouldn’t be doing it.
IW: You better hope there won’t ever be a reckoning for your activities.
The interview ended with a smirk from Nikolai before be left the room. To see what becomes of him, check out the book below:
