Build Your Momentum
Hello and welcome back.
Today I would like to talk about building your momentum. Sometimes we might get stuck in writing a scene or dialogue or anything at all when we’re crafting our story. The way to smash through, jump over or go around that brick wall is to keep writing, don’t stop.
One suggestion is to move to another part of the story if you’re stuck on one part of it. That way you can continue your writing and come back to the stuck point later.
Another suggestion is to maybe take a walk or do some other activity while thinking about the part your stuck on. Additionally you can take a notebook and write down ten possible ways to get yourself unstuck from the story.
Anything is better than staring at the blank screen.
While working on my first novel, No Remorse No Regret, while on breaks at work and during other things I would take a notebook and write down how I wanted to improve the scene. I took a scene that was very emotional for my main character and wrote down a one long sentence scene.
Always, always try and find a better way than staring at the blank screen of your computer. Getting anything down is better than getting nothing down. You can always improve and revise later.
Hope this helps, have a great day.
