How To Make Progress
Hello and welcome back to my blog.
Today I am going to talk about how to make progress in your writing. Specifically how to get more words written in a day.
What I found helpful for me is to start with an attainable goal, like write 1000 words in a day. For those who have followed my writing marathons you will see that I can usually get that in an hour. That’s when I am able to focus on writing only.
There are days, like most writers, when job responsibilities and other things can sometimes interfere with what I want to get done. So I will often use breaks at work to work on a writing task such as a 2 sentence story or a 500 word story.
So a tip for writing more is take your found time for writing and write. At the end of the day count up how many words you were able to get down and set the goal to increase it by 20% the next day.
Once you are able to increase your daily writing goals by 20% over the previous day’s totals several times, increase it to 30% or whatever increase you feel will push you to greater things until you are able to get to two thousand words in a day. The magic word count Stephen King says to get in his book On Writing.
Anyway, have a great day.
