Vengeance Never Pays
Max was never the type to impose his will on others and he
expected to be shown the same courtesy and respect. And woe came to those who
did not. So that’s why he is loosening the lug nuts on the car. He wasn’t big
tough fighter type, but the type to come back later when he was guaranteed to
have his sweet Revenge.
A few more on his list, totaling three more people.
His next day at work he put a nail in the cushion of Darcy’s chair and waited
until he came in. Max could barely contain his laughter when Darcy sat on the
chair and jumped up the shrieking and pain. Serves you right for what you did
to me, Max thought.
Which one should I do next? He asked himself. Jennifer or Dan? He decided he
would do Dan next. After work and when he got home he started writing down all
the different things he could come up with. He wouldn’t go so far as to put any
nut products in his food knowing that he had a fatal allergy to that kind of
food, as much as he wanted revenge, he didn’t want to go to jail for murder.
But then if they never found out that he did it then he wouldn’t go to jail. On
the other hand though it really would be too great of a chance that he would
got caught. So it would be best to do something that would painful to a point
and would be very annoying.
He decided then to put spikes underneath his car tires and went out at midnight
to do that. Max parked his car four blocks away from Dan’s house and as
nonchalantly as possible he Strode up to back of the Ford Escape, put a spike
under each tire hidden enough so that Dan would not see them when he came to
his car in the morning.
Max wished he could be there to see the look on the other man’s face when all
four tires got blown out, but he knew it would make it too easy for them to
find out that it was him who did it. So he went home and managed 4 hours sleep
before his alarm woke him at 5:30.
After his breakfast and shower and getting dressed he went to work. Around
lunch Dan had still not shown up for work, Max along with all his co-workers
were in the lunch room when one of the women came in with tears rolling down
her face. She announced that Dan had been killed in a car accident.
Apparently the four spikes did not immediately blow his tires out, they had let
the air out slowly until Dan lost control of his car and caused him to have a
head-on collision with a transport truck. While Max had a surge of guilt flow
through him, he really didn’t mean to get somebody killed, the woman had also
said that the police were reviewing camera footage from Dan’s home.
And now Max had to hope that the camera you didn’t know Dan had did not get a
good enough picture of him. His hopes were dashed when two hours later the
police showed up and arrested him.
