In this next series of posts I’ve added ten writing prompts per week. This is week 1

  1. Go to randomwordgenerator.com and generate a random word and write what comes to mind with the word that comes up
  2. Grab a dictionary, open it up and with your eyes closed run your finger up and down the pages for ten seconds and stop on the word, write what comes to mind
  3. Look out the window and describe what you see
  4. Eat something you love the taste of and write the description from a character’s point of view
  5. Eat something you can’t stand the taste of and write all the sensations from a character’s point of view
  6. Have someone carry you around in whatever manner for a couple minutes and describe what it was like from a character’s point of view – scared? Excited? Powerless
  7. Carry someone around (with their consent) and write how the carrier would feel
  8. The next time you’re intimate or describe the last time you were intimate from a character’s point of view
  9. Visit a tourist attraction in your hometown you’ve never been to before and write how a character would see it
  10. Visit a town close by you’ve never visited, look at it through the character’s eyes and describe the town, what you see, smell, hear – use all the senses
