Writing Tips And Tools
Hello and welcome back.
Whew!! yesterday was a blast I got my 18 thousand words written for the marathon. There might be two in August one for the civic holiday and one for my birthday. I will do my best to get to 22 thousand words for one of them and if I do the second one increase it by 20%.
Anyway for my topic today some writing tips and tools. If you’re unsure of where to start for a story. A good idea is to scan the news and see what catches your interest and after changing names and locations and possibly the event use a news story as inspiration for the basis of your fiction story.
Another idea is to think of your favorite books and movies and write down 10 to 20 ways you could make it different. As an example for my upcoming novel No Remorse No Regret I took the revenge fiction story that you often see in movies and books. Most of those stories are about a former special forces or covert spy operative guy whose wife and/or daughter gets kidnapped and/or raped and/or murdered. Then the guy goes psycho and all by himself mows down all the bad guys and barely gets a scratch on him as he takes revenge on the bad guys.
So I took that and turned it around and had the female character avenge her own rape against men who abuse women.
You could also do a search on writing prompts. There’s tons of sites that you could find something and use it to create something really cool. Bryn Donovan has some pretty good ones on her site here.
Those are the three tips for today, make your day a great one.
