User philosophy

What kind of philosophy must one have to live a life like that? A user of people and one who loves things and not one who uses things and loves people?

Ben read that line and thought, people can let you down, stab you in the back, turn their back on you when you need them the most. Whereas with things like a car if you take care of them they’ll always work when you need them.

He took care of a woman once, when she was down and out and needed someone and he was there for her. But she left without even so much as a Dear John letter. No text or email. Just broke off all contact.

Six months later he saw her engagement announcement in the newspaper. No car or TV set ever left him. People always do.
