Creating Love Interests
Hello and welcome back.
Today I’d like to share some ways on how to create love interests for your main character.
First off you will likely want to create one who’s more than just the person he or she sleeps with. This would get boring and old if that’s all the love interest is.
In a romance the love interest will be the person your main character pursues and likely “gets” by the end of the story. But you can create a deeper character than that for other types of stories.
One way that can be interesting is the love interest could be a honey trap for a corporate executive or any other type of high power person. For example let’s say your main character is a criminal defense attorney, you could have the prosecutor’s office send an informant to get the person into bed and try and get some secrets as to how the lawyer will be approaching the case.
Another fun way would be to do something similar to the Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith. If you haven’t seen the movie they’re both assassins working for different companies. That’s how they start the movie, I won’t give away the details in case you haven’t seen it.
A third way to have a love interest is the main character has to keep a secret from her. This could be something like he investigates the possibility of alien visitation to our planet. And then to make it even more interesting the love interest is an actual alien and is trying to figure out what he knows about them.
Hopefully this helps give you some ideas.
