Journals For Writers
Hello and welcome back.
Today I want to talk about the importance of keeping a journal for your writing. This can be as simple or as complex as you want. But generally simple is probably better. Your journal can be a notebook or your notepad on your cell phone.
Personally I recommend both. The reason being is your phone you can take anywhere, as well as a small notebook if you work a job that doesn’t allow for personal use of your cell phone while on work hours. This journal is used for those times when an idea comes pops into your head and you don’t want to lose the idea. Quickly write it down and then continue on with your day.
The larger notebook, the kind you likely used in school is used for those times when you can fit in some writing. Such as on breaks at work, either lunch or coffee breaks.
There are almost always going to be times when you know you’ll be able to fit in some writing time – such as when you have to wait at the doctor or dentist office. How often do they run on schedule?
This gives you the ability to improve your writing skills, something everyone of us needs to do.
One exercise you can try is before you go out to the doctor or anywhere else you might have to wait awhile and write down two words that you get from a dictionary and then while you are waiting use the time to write things down.
The important thing here is not to censor your thoughts, just write down what comes to your mind. You might one day find something amazing that becomes a great story.
I hope this helps your, now go out and make it a great day.
that’s a good idea. Shal try that and see what comes up. Thanks!
