Using Your Memories
Hello and welcome back.
Today I am going to talk about using your memories to help with your fiction. We have all experienced in our lives both good and bad times. From getting the date with the girl to a loved one dying. Remember how this felt and all the emotions you went through. Then when you want a character to go through this channel those feelings into him.
For example, I remember the first time I kissed a girl, I was shaking inside, nervous as I bent down wondering if she would pull away or if she would stand on her toes to accept the kiss. Thankfully it was the latter, I am over six feet tall and she was about five one so she had to go on her toes.
I also remember when my mother was in hospital after she had a stroke and we were determining whether or not to put her in palliative care. One of the worst experiences of my life.
So think about how much joy you felt when you held your girlfriend in your arms. Whether or not you lifted her or not is irrelevant just think about how that felt and have your character think the same things you did.
Use the same thing for any bad memories when you want a character to experience trauma.
Hopefully this helps, have a great day.
